Giving thanks

I've always liked the original idea of Thanksgiving and the history of the holiday, and was always very eager to celebrate and I truly embraced the spirit of the day. Until three years ago when one of my reasons to be thankful was taken away from my side, then I decided I was not going to be honest when giving thanks for my life and family without Thomas by my side.
Today, making the same desition of not celebrating until I had something to celebrate wholeheartedly, I will not make a Thanksgiving dinner, not until my heart is mended and I have a full family again.
Yet, I know that I do have many things to be thankful for, but for those, I give thanks every day, so I see no need for it today.
So, my friends, I am thankful for you, but I don't need today to be the reminder of that.
